This little piggie......

Urrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh......That sums up exactly how I feel after the radical eating marathon that took place this weekend. Never has something the size of my stomach been forced to ingest as much as it had to this weekend. I deserve a spot in the Guinness book of records for this shit!!!

I spent the long Thanksgiving weekend in Rochester where I proceeded to eat my way through the entire house! I'm still reeling from the trauma, I don't think I'll ever recover! And there is absolutely no way I'll ever fit into my dress for my sister's wedding......but the food was just sooooooo good. Besides eating my aunt out of house and home, I didn't really get up to much else this weekend. Then again, I was in Rochester so there wasn't really much to get up to. Factor in the FRICKIN' RIDICULOUS cold (it was snowing heavily..in November?) and this weekend wasn't really a recipe for major jollies!! I fully intend to make up for lost time this week however...that is if I can muster up the strength considering what lies ahead!!!

Congratulations boo-boo

Three cheers for Keji who has been awarded a distinction in her project her masters and as a result should earn a distinction for the entire degree. Knew you had it in you....despite your affinity for pigeons which touch your face!!!

She-who-hangs-out-in-cemetaries-a-lot!!

I would like to take this moment to offer thanks and adoration for the arrival of the Buffy Chosen One box set!!!!! I've been thrown headlong back into the Buffyverse, a place I haven't visited for the last two years...and I'm never coming back!!!!

Yesterday was relaxing actually, K came round after work. He brought Ab Fab season 1 with him!! Could he be any more perfect?! C'est impossible! And thus we passed the evening in the thrall of Patsy and Edina. Quite a laugh. It's Thanksgiving tomorrow, so I am taking a trip up to good old Rochester for the long weekend. An entire weeked with Jam-Jam!!! I am so excited, can't wait to see him again. The only downside is missing out on all the New York parties that seem to have popped up out of the woodwork at the last minute. When I get back there will only be one more week before I leave for the wedding! Yikes! It's off to sunny Nigeria for two and a half weeks!! Should be good fun, but I'm kinda sad that K can't go. I'll miss him big time. Anyway, must go and prepare myself for the onslaught of the suburban nightmare that is Rochester.

Yee-Hawww!!!

Man, it's been a stressful week to say the least! It culminated in the long-awaited trip to Nashville which was topped by the sight of yours truly...line dancing!!!! I kid you not. It was a sight to behold!

I've been running around like a headless chicken trying to get all the pieces for this wedding to fall into place and its not even mine!! Lord knows what will happen if I ever decide to do the deed myself! Quick re-cap, I went to the a fabulous party weekend before last. So many people that I hadn't seen in ages were there. It gives me hope for the road forward in NYC ...It's nice to know that I have a non-work related social scene ...apart from K, he's the anchor for this whole shipwreck I like to call lil' ole me. Tats came to town for the week, it's just a shame that the timing was all wrong and she had to be here while I was going to be away, but I did mangae to fit in a drink, or two....... or twenty. It's was bit groundhog dayesque sitting there sipping martinis with her and jen! Haven't done that in a while. K came to meet me at the bar later and they were all kinda rude though, it was a touch tense. It's looking like I'm going to have to keep those two sides of my life separate.

Anyway, I would love to sit here and wax poetic about the joys of my life but frankly my butt still hurts from all that line-dancing and my shoulders are quaking under the strain of all the cowboys I lassoed last week..so I'ma sign off here.

Well On My Way!!!!

K came over last night to give me my brand new coat....which he made just for me! Yes, one of a kind. And it's definitely very me, turquoise corduroy with an amazing cut and gorgeously warm lining. The most incredible part though is he says there is a line of them coming out. He is calling them....wait for it.......EFE! It was really nice to have a personal fitting....I could get used to this! Unurprisingly, Gbite didn't make it. He reckons his flight was delayed and as he was going to miss his meetings he decided to reschedule. Of course he didn't notify me till this afternoon via text message! I wasn't tripping though it was to be expected. Today has been pretty much a washout, I've watched Alias all day! This must be a medical condition, this compulsive desire to glue myself to some form of multimedia 24/7....what do other people do with their time?

New haircut going on, it's kind of mod. I wasn't really sure about it but K loves it so I guess it's a keeper. Bushie is on TV ranting about how we will never back down, we will never give in, we will never accept anything but complete victory! Who are the ingrates who listen to this guy?! Living here has seriously eroded my level of respect for US Citizens. I used to think it was just tobacco spitting, whiskey swilling rednecks who backed this guy but I hear idiots in restaurants and on the subway all the time carrying on about how all the namby-pamby liberals just need to be wiped out....grrrr.....

One down.....

Had an email from Keji today telling me that she is planning on skipping her graduation to come to Moyemski's wedding!!! This is fantastic news, especially as she is a bridesmaid. Now if we can only circumvent that pesky issue of airfare (tickets to Nigeria are no cakewalk!)then we'll be home free! A family conference is much needed I think. I can shoulder the responsibility and even pay them back in massive chunks but I will need them to help me out with the initial purchase. I choose however to worry about that later...I'm more excited by the prospect of getting Keji into a lilac bridesmaid's dress!

A pressing hair appointment means my imminent departure........

Tuesday, Bloody Tuesday

For some reason, I'm thoroughly depressed today. Must be a late onslaught of the Monday blues. I'm re-christening them ...wait for it...Tuesday blues! (See what I did there? I'm a clever little cookie aren't I?!)It just seems like I spend much of Monday willing myself not to be down, so that come Tuesday there is not much ooomph left. On the plus side there is a public holiday on Friday, so day after tomorrow is the last day of the week! There's a cheery thought...but is it enough to rouse me from the depths of my depression? We'll see.

Just got a text message from Gbite, telling me that he's planning on coming into town this weekend. If that actually pans out it'll be brilliant timing, quite an enjoyable way to pass the long weekend. Hard to say what I'd do with him though, the weather can't seem to decide whether it wants to be fall or winter. It's highly unpredictable, and my room still looks like a bomb fell on it so a mass clean-up would be in order. It's probably a good idea to institute the mass clean-up regardless of whether he comes or not...sexy birds are not supposed to live like pigs!!!!

Which movies have you seen?

Paris In Flames

The burning of Paris saddens me on many levels. The worst part, besides all the carnage is the revelation of all the closet racists especially in the UK and USA. It is appalling to hear people referring to third-generation french-people of North African and Arab origin as "immigrants" suggesting that they should send them back where they came from...if that is the case every US citizen who doesn't happen to be Native American needs to begin packing their bags!

Not that I think rioting is ever acceptable, but the outcome of all this will determine the way it goes down in history. Villains or heroes?.......French Revolution anyone.......

Oh how the mighty have fallen!

My demise into blogsville was clearly inevitable, and as such I have elected to give up the fight and embrace it. The life of a Brit/Nigerian in New York city breeds so much daily craziness, it would be criminal to keep it to myself. Suffice to say daily casual observations will now find an outlet! Keji would shake her head in disgust, Becca would nod in approval, Nadiya would be completely baffled...and everyone else can stick it where the sun doesn't shine!
